Mary Bratsch-Hines

Dr. Mary Bratsch-Hines is the Project Director for the TRI. Mary worked as an early childhood educator in Missouri and North Carolina for five years before receiving her Master’s and Ph.D. in Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her graduate studies, Mary also received her Birth-Kindergarten and Elementary Education teaching licenses, teaching part-time and full-time in early childhood and kindergarten classrooms. Her research interests include understanding how to improve early reading and socioemotional skills for students living in rural areas, with a focus on students of color. She maintains an interest in early childhood education, and is currently exploring how young children’s sequential transitions into and out of child care are associated with their social and academic skills.
